First full day here, and we met with the Delta Vacations guy who helped us book our excursions. He also set us up for transport to go somewhere before taking us to a place for some much needed retail therapy. I forget what the first stop was. Something to do with Tequilla and Silver. So 1 PM rolls around, and we can’t remember what time he said if it was 1:15 or 1:30. So we headed over to the reception area, asked the front desk where they would be picking us up, and were told to head over to where the busses were. There are 4 busses waiting so we had to somehow communicate with the drivers as to which one is the one we should be taking. Machelle asked one, and she said shopping, and he said Si. So we get on the bus. He stops in the middle of a street and points to a location and says that is where we are supposed to go. Someone on the bus explained to us that it was a long walk over. The driver makes us get off the bus, and we are stranded. So I walked over to one of the many security gates and took out my phone, pulled up Google Translate, and asked them to please help us get a cab back to our hotel. 300 pesos/$13, and we are safe back at our hotel.
We were in Cancun for less than 24 hours and already got lost.
So we decided to have lunch and just relax. We called the travel agent to get us booked again for the same trip, and it was free, which is odd to me.
We will try again tomorrow.
