The Dreams That Do Not Make Any Sense
For weeks now, I’ve been having dreams that leave me puzzled when I wake up. They’re vivid, almost cinematic, and they center around someone I never expected—let’s call him Rob.
Rob was killed in a motorcycle accident by a drunk driver. The irony? That driver was on their way to an AA meeting. Rob left behind two daughters, and his story always struck me as tragic. But here’s the strange part: I never had any romantic interest in Rob—at least not consciously. Maybe subconsciously? I honestly don’t know. Yet in these dreams, Rob is alive, and he’s showing romantic interest in me. Sometimes it’s casual flirting, other times it feels deeper, almost intimate.
Why am I dreaming about this? Why now?
Trying to Make Sense of It
Dreams are mysterious. They often pull from fragments of memory, emotion, and subconscious thoughts we don’t even realize we carry. Here are a few possibilities I’ve been considering:
- Unresolved Emotions About Loss
Even if I wasn’t close to Rob, his death might have left an imprint. Tragedies remind us of life’s fragility, and sometimes our minds process that through dreams. - Symbolism Over Literal Meaning
Rob might not represent himself in these dreams. He could symbolize something else—maybe a longing for connection, or a reminder of opportunities lost. - Subconscious Curiosity
Our brains sometimes explore “what if” scenarios we’d never entertain consciously. It doesn’t mean those feelings are real; it might just be your mind playing out possibilities. - Stress or Emotional Overload
Vivid dreams often spike when we’re under stress or navigating big changes. They can be a way for the brain to release tension.
What I’m Learning
I’m realizing that dreams don’t always make sense—and maybe they’re not supposed to. They’re like whispers from the subconscious, nudging us to pay attention to something deeper. For me, these dreams might be about grief, curiosity, or simply the randomness of the human mind.
Have you ever had dreams that made no sense but felt so real? What did you do with them?
